Judy Dennis Gardner remembers:
I remember being late to elementary school daily on Hilltop Drive (Hillcrest??) because I lived across the street & always thought I had plenty of time.
I remember the dances after LJHS...one day a week I think.
I remember the 'Jayhawk Plunge' ?? I think??
I remember the slumber parties at Sharon Pettengills house, & rotating nearly every Fri night to several of our houses for those fun times.
I remember the 'campus hideaway'...PIZZA like no other!
I remember the shock of Jack Allison's death...all the way west here.
I remember the LHS football games & still love love love it ...
Norman, I too remember the game when they had to head back to Lawrence for better cleats and we won, of course & I remember you too
I remember leaving my heart in Lawrence to move to Salt Lake City after our Sophomore year
I am still 'adjusting', in fact.
I remember the charm bracelet the girlfriends (Barbara I, Barbara B. Sharon P, Joan I, Judy Nelson, Rhonda R, maybe more) gave me with their names on it....their gift to me before I moved.
I remember carrying around the 'Life' magazine in my High School in Utah...one teacher said "Judy, rather than interrupting the entire class time, will you just come up to the front and tell the entire class about your magazine, then I will ask you to put it away"...I did with LHS pride and took up most of the class time ... yep..
My is in Lawrence, but it keeps ticking in Utah.
I remember driving up and down Mass street, waving & honking at friends and feeling like I owned the world....think maybe they do not allow that anymore, we may have caused that change.
Those cheap amazing cheese hamburgers across the street from the school...name anyone???
The BUBBLES in the fountain on the 'hill'....heeeheeehee
......oh and did I tell you, my heart is still in Lawrence??!!!
